Desire the secrets
Inner-workings of the will
Engage the forbidden
Ancient wisdom revealed
Unravel the mysteries
Both guarded and divine
Engage the black arts
To reveal the light
Kill thyself
To know thyself
The path to wisdom
Self transmutation
Lead into gold
Wisdom unfolds
The desire to know
The snake sheds his skin
A new tail grows
A new path begins

Jealousy
Of the pernicious kind
Causes self-destruction
Through karmic retribution
Hatred
Decimates peace of mind
Causes mental imbalance
Emotions raging out of control
Greed
Wanting for more than desired
Causes endless dissatisfaction
Never content, never happy
Treachery
Is the worst of all sins
Causes magnified suffering
For betrayal of trust and faith
Suicide
Is irredeemable
Causes one to be reborn in dire state
For transgressing the life of a human soul

Since 2005, Transcending Obscurity has been trying to promote metal music from around the world, first as a webzine, then as a record label, and now also as a PR company (
www.tometal.com). Starting with the first release (now sold out) of the obscure band called THE DEAD from Australia, the label has come far, having over 50 bands under its roster, be it on the main international label or the sub-label and their respective distribution legs. Transcending Obscurity can arguably be called one of the biggest labels for underground music, even though it's based in Mumbai, India - which has only been a massive challenge so far. Against all odds though, the quality of the products, distribution network, and promotional reach have only gotten better and with the support of its loyal fans, can hope to help more and more bands from all over.
Please buy original music and support the store as much as possible! Here's the link -

MTV - "for all those who listen to metal, want to listen to it but don’t know where to start or are those people who like trying one new thing every single day, the Transcending Obscurity Label Sampler Vol. 1 will keep you busy well into 2016."

Rolling Stone India - "“There will be Indian bands and international bands merging on this one compilation,” says Choksi of the sampler, which he will put together as an annual Christmas special."

The Monolith (UK) - "This impressive compilation is the work of Transcending Obscurity, a metal webzine, label and PR company led by editor, label head and artist Kunal Choksi whose valiant efforts to get his local scene globalised has led to this monolithic release. All of this has been made possible, more or less, by him singlehandedly with the vision of “...exposing Indian bands to an international audience and foreign bands to a local audience.“"
